Meow

The idea for Meow originated from a simple observation: many cat owners spend more time away from their pets than they would like.

Between work, travel, and daily responsibilities, pet owners often struggle to keep track of their cat's health while also missing the emotional connection that comes from spending time together. Existing pet care applications largely focus on medical records or shopping experiences, leaving emotional engagement largely unexplored.

To better understand user needs, I conducted user research focused on cat owners from different professional backgrounds. Interviews revealed three recurring pain points: difficulty maintaining health records, inconvenience when purchasing pet supplies, and feelings of guilt or separation anxiety when away from home.

Based on these insights, I designed Meow as a holistic pet management experience rather than a traditional utility app.

The platform allows users to record information related to diet, weight, activity levels, vaccinations, and health conditions. Smart reminders help owners stay informed about upcoming care tasks while reducing the burden of manual tracking.

A key differentiator of the project is the virtual interaction system. After creating a pet profile, users receive a digital companion that reflects aspects of their cat's behavior. This feature introduces a playful emotional layer to the experience, helping owners feel connected to their pets even when physically apart.

The user experience was designed to feel warm, approachable, and engaging. Inspired by the playful nature of cats, the visual language combines soft colors, illustrated environments, and simple interactions to create an experience that feels friendly rather than clinical.

The final product includes pet health management, activity monitoring, virtual interaction, personalized reminders, user profiles, and an integrated shopping experience, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for modern pet owners.

Impact

Meow demonstrates my ability to translate user research into meaningful digital experiences by balancing functional needs with emotional design.

The project highlights my end-to-end UX process, including research, persona development, user flows, wireframing, visual design, and interface prototyping, while addressing both practical and psychological aspects of pet ownership.
